Bringing wireless Bluetooth commissioning to the mobile app for W-BACnet and W-Modbus
Firmware 4.2.0 brings full Bluetooth commissioning to W-BACnet and W-Modbus, giving engineers and installers the freedom to set up and verify an entire wireless network directly from their smartphone.
For the first time, engineers and installers can commission a full wireless network and identify individual devices directly from the LumenRadio mobile app, no switch-flipping or LED-reading required.
“This is the biggest user experience improvement since we launched W-Modbus/W-BACnet products! To commission the network over Bluetooth will bring more speed and clarity to the users.” says Carl Wäppling, Product Development Manager in Building Automation.
Know exactly which device you’re talking to
The new Ping feature also gives installers precise, on-the-spot device identification in larger installations. From the Network Map in the app, users can select any node and trigger a ping and the physical device responds with a visual indicator. In crowded enclosures or dense deployments, there’s no longer any guesswork about which device is which and saves the installer both time and headache.
To support the transition to Bluetooth commissioning, LumenRadio has published a step-by-step PDF appendix to the Quick Start Guide and a dedicated YouTube walkthrough demonstrating the process in full.
Update to Firmware 4.2.0 today. Full release notes are available at docs.lumenrad.io for both W-Modbus and W-BACnet
