Cameo and Wireless DMX set the scene for Iron Drift King

Every year, 64 of the best drift drivers meet to determine who will be crowned the Iron Drift King. They compete against the backdrop of Ferropolis – the “city of iron” – an open-air museum of huge mid-20th century industrial machines located in east-central Germany.

The spectacular competition, which attracts an audience of thousands, is staged by i:TECS Event Production who this year lit the track using Cameo lighting with LumenRadio’s Wireless DMX integrated.

“We rely on wireless DMX in our moving heads to give our customers the flexibility and freedom they need for a wireless alternative. This technology supports our ambition to deliver user-friendly solutions that are easy to integrate and ensure reliable performance.”

The i:TECS team placed a total of 30 Cameo ORON H2 IP65 Hybrid Phosphor Laser Moving Heads on four bucket-wheel excavators and used Cameo ZENIT W600 LED Outdoor Wash Lights for surrounding illumination, where wireless control was particularly useful.

“We have significantly expanded the lighting concept for Iron Drift King compared to last year,” explains Robin Ziegler from i:TECS. “We decided to use moving lights on the excavators for the first time in order to emphasize the unique industrial atmosphere of Ferropolis and enhance the dynamics of the races.”

“The lighting design at the Iron Drift King must not just be functional. The organiser attaches great importance to the fact that the lamps used support the atmosphere of Ferropolis and enable impressive light shows during the race breaks,” he adds.
