LMP and LumenRadio: over a decade of wireless innovation in professional lighting

From pioneering LED innovations to leading wireless lighting solutions, LMP has been dedicated to professional lighting for over 40 years – and is one of the earliest adopters of LumenRadio’s CRMX technology.

Marc Petzold is the driving force behind LMP. Founded in Germany in 1980, the company had a simple yet ambitious mission: to provide pro lighting accessories that simply weren’t available on the market.

“We’ve always aimed to be ahead of the curve,” says Marc. “Our customers expect solutions that make their work easier, not more complicated. In the early days, we quickly expanded our portfolio to include standard spotlights such as CDM-PAR and Profilers.”

As LED technology evolved, LMP took a bold step forward, launching its own line of fixtures under the LITECRAFT brand.

“The first series, the AT3, was among the earliest multicolor LED PARs, combining red, green and blue under a single lens,” explains Marc. “Over the years, the series evolved into the AT5, AT10 and AT10+, as we looked to push the boundaries of what was possible in LED lighting.”

“We believed wireless would shape the future of professional lighting – and we wanted to be part of that future.”

In 2012, LMP became one of the earliest adopters of LumenRadio’s CRMX wireless technology with the BattLED AT5. This device, ahead of its time, offered IP65 protection and a brand new LumenRadio CRMX TiMo chip that could transmit signals.

“Back then, integrating CRMX into a compact, battery-powered IP fixture was a quite forward-thinking,” Marc recalls. “But we believed wireless would shape the future of professional lighting – and we wanted to be part of that future.”

LMP’s drive for innovation didn’t stop there. The AT (Advanced Technology) series was complemented by the WT (White Technology) series, introducing some of the first continuously variable white-light spotlights on the market. Today, LITECRAFT continues to innovate with two distinct performance lines: BeamX and WashX.

The BeamX series includes the highly popular BX.7, a battery-powered spotlight with integrated CRMX, and the new BX.12, a higher-performance fixture featuring:

  • Increased power and battery capacity
  • Battery level display
  • Emergency mode: automatic switchover to battery during power failure
  • Integrated CRMX² (W-DMX compatible)
  • Linking Key and Universe Name display for easy network integration
  • IR remote control for fast, intuitive operation

Similarly, the WashX series offers flexible options for wireless control. Products like the WashX.432 and WashXT are widely used in streaming studios, theaters, and trade shows. LMP even developed a cost-effective USB dongle solution, enabling wireless control ‘on the fly’ via a CRMX chip.

For the other IP-protected models BeamX.12 and the new WashXTC, CRMX receiver cards are installed in the in-house service department by order to equip the devices with the option in tested quality.

“We wanted to give customers a choice,” Marc explains. “If you don’t want to use DMX cables, you can control your lighting wirelessly – it should be that simple.”

LMP’s partnership with LumenRadio spans over a decade. Since becoming LumenRadio’s exclusive distributor in Germany in 2010, the two companies have collaborated closely on integrating CRMX into LITECRAFT products. This OEM relationship has enabled LMP to remain at the cutting edge of lighting technology, consistently offering professional users reliable and flexible wireless DMX connectivity.

“Working with LumenRadio has always been seamless,” says Marc. “The support during development has been excellent, and implementing CRMX in our fixtures has allowed us to offer truly state-of-the-art products.”

For LMP, the focus is on putting the customer first. By combining advanced optics, versatile LED technology and LumenRadio’s CRMX, LMP delivers fixtures that are as easy to use as they are innovative.

From mobile, battery-powered spotlights to network-ready studio and theater lighting, LMP continues to set new standards in professional lighting – and LumenRadio is proud to be part of that journey.
