Facade lighting with W-DALI wireless control

A new addition to the Marriott hotel portfolio, the 281-room Moxy Budapest Downtown is located in the heart of Budapest, on Kazinczy Street, right in the centre of the city’s vibrant entertainment district.

LISYS-PROJECT Kft. was commissioned to design and install the hotel’s facade lighting and lighting control system.

For the facade lighting, Lisys selected luminaires from the Electron Elegant series. They manufactured custom cover plates finished in a RAL colour matching the facade’s colour scheme. The DALI power supplies were integrated into the mounting plates of the luminaires, resulting in a compact and aesthetically pleasing solution.

Lisys used luminaires with a colour temperature of 2700 K to create a warm and inviting lighting effect on the facade. The lighting control system ensures that all luminaires operate in harmony, creating a uniform and visually striking appearance.

The distinctive atmosphere of the main entrance was created using Molto Luce products with transparent shades. The luminaires were fitted with E27 OSRAM filament lamps with a colour temperature of 2700 K. A total of 172 light sources installed side by side create the entrance area’s distinctive and welcoming atmosphere.

The facade lighting is controlled by a Lutron Athena lighting control system, based on the DALI protocol. Lisys also integrated LumenRadio’s W-DALI to wirelessly control the Moxy signs located on the fifth floor and at the rear of the building.

The signs were installed on the building at a later stage, when it was no longer possible to install the required DALI control cabling. This project clearly demonstrated one of W-DALI’s major advantages: retroactive implementation of DALI control without the need for additional cabling.

The lighting operates automatically according to pre-programmed schedules, while manual control is also available via push-button controls, an application running on a smart device, and the building management system.
