LumenRadio proud finalist in Smart Industri 2020
For the fifth year in a row, the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA) wants to stimulate small and medium sized companies’ digital transformation by arranging the Smart Industri competition. This initiative was founded by Siemens, Teknikföretagen and IVA with the purpose is to highlight and reward companies that take advantage of the possibilities of digitalization in a smart and innovative way.
Six interesting companies have been nominated as finalists and LumenRadio is one of them. With future-proof wireless connectivity for harsh industrial applications, our technology enables companies to develop complete new digital offerings in factory environments.
One good example is SKF, who by collaborating with LumenRadio has developed a new wireless vibration sensor as part of a condition monitoring system for improving rotating equipment performance. The solution is now being deployed on a scale previously considered uneconomic.
Within SKF’s solution, LumenRadio contributes with the MiraOS operating system, which provides several unique benefits for wireless communication. A “mesh network” protocol enables sensors to exchange data, navigating around obstacles, such as pipework and liquid storage tanks, instead of trying to penetrate them. LumenRadio’s patented Cognitive Coexistence technology scans the radio spectrum and switches frequencies to avoid “busy” channels and overcome interference. All-in-all, this means increased radio reliability and less retransmissions – significantly reducing the power consumption and extending the battery life of these small devices.
Christian Sahlin, Business Area Manager Industry at LumenRadio says:
“Being a finalist in the Smart industry competition is a great opportunity for us at LumenRadio. Not only to create awareness of the benefits using our technology but also to show the great use case we have together with SKF – where the wireless expertise from LumenRadio together with the hundreds of years of experience within rotating equipment from SKF creates a strong foundation for the next industrial phase.”
Winners will be announced on February 11th – join the awards ceremony here.
