Revolutionize building efficiency with the Wireless Modbus Ecosystem

The development of a Wireless Modbus Ecosystem, fueled by expanding wireless connectivity across a range of Modbus products, is revolutionizing the building automation industry. This ecosystem unites manufacturers, integrators, and installers in a network that is not only smarter but also more efficient. Key benefits include a significant reduction in installation times and guaranteed interoperability across different brands, making this ecosystem essential for maintaining a competitive edge in the rapidly evolving market.

The Wireless Modbus Ecosystem brings multiple manufacturers together to create products with integrated wireless Modbus capabilities. These products, ranging from fire dampers and room controllers to high-precision sensors, traditionally relied on wired Modbus connections. Thanks to the W-Modbus radio module from LumenRadio, these devices can now communicate wirelessly, ensuring they maintain full interoperability with the Modbus standard across different brands

W-Modbus is a wireless cable replacement technology, developed by LumenRadio, enabling Modbus RTU communication over a reliable wireless mesh network. The W-Modbus product range includes retrofit solutions, DIN rail and wall-mounted devices, that can convert any wired Modbus device into a wireless one. Additionally, for OEM manufacturers, W-Modbus offers a radio module that can be directly integrated into products, making them instantly compatible with the Wireless Modbus Ecosystem. The W-Modbus radio module offers a fast and easy integration making it possible for manufacturers to get a quick time to market for their product.

Industry leading manufacturers adopting W-Modbus technology

This Ecosystem is already being embraced by leading building automation product manufacturers like S+S, Produal and PowerIO among others. By integrating W-Modbus, these manufacturers are not only future-proofing their products but also enabling seamless communication between devices across different brands.

Corc Mityesoglu, LumenRadio Sales Director in DACH sees that more and more manufacturers are choosing an open standard solution instead of aproprietary wireless solution. Corc says:

“Developing a proprietary wireless solution is time-consuming and costly. By adopting W-Modbus, OEMs can bring wireless-enabled products to market much faster. The demand for wireless solutions grows and integrating W-Modbus now ensures manufacturers remain relevant and competitive.”

Faster installations creates stronger profits

Systemintegrators and Installers will also benefit from the expansion of the Wireless Modbus Ecosystem. Without cables to manage, installations become significantly faster, allowing integrators to complete more projects in less time. No more drilling holes, pulling cables, or shutting down sections of a building—wireless installations can be done without disturbing occupants. Using wireless instead of a wired solution enables a reduction in installation cost between 50% and 90% when it comes to retrofit projects.

Carl Wäppling, product development manager for building automation and industrial control systems at LumenRadio says;

“The beauty of the Wireless Modbus Ecosystem is its flexibility—you can upgrade existing buildings with wireless Modbus retrofit solutions or build a new system with products with integrated W-Modbus, seamlessly mixing and matching for your unique project.”
