ARRI – defining the standard in motion picture lighting

ARRI’s launch of Orbiter in September got quite a lot of attention. This new, directional LED fixture for motion picture, television production, broadcast, theatre, and live entertainment is of course powered by LumenRadio’s CRMX technology.

It was back in 2017 that ARRI released its first CRMX-powered product, and until then they had been waiting for a “standardization” of wireless DMX.  During this time, LumenRadio’s CRMX technology had started to be the de-facto standard in the motion picture and broadcast industry. “Actually, it has become a synonym for wireless DMX,” says Florian Bloch, Head of Product Management Lighting at ARRI.

ARRI is a global product manufacturer of camera equipment, lighting, and professional accessories for the motion picture, broadcast, theatre, and photographic industries. In addition, they provide a complete range of services to their clients, offering solutions for the entire production process, from script to screen.

“For several years we have been delivering wireless technology to ARRI, and we are proud to be part of the Orbiter as ARRI continues to set the standard in motion picture lighting,” says Josef Hederström, International Sales Manager at LumenRadio.

Because filmmaking and live entertainment is extremely time and cost-sensitive, wireless technology is a key component to keeping the costs down. The addition of LumenRadio CRMX allows for advanced and efficient setup and workflow ensuring every minute on-set can be used to its fullest.

“Since our first meeting, LumenRadio has proven its capabilities in all areas of the business. Their reliable project management, accurate application support, and technologies, but most of all, their great spirit and mindset helped to turn our previous customer-supplier relationship into real, sustainable cooperation between our companies,” says Florian Bloch.

ARRI’s CRMX-enabled products have been used at the Grammy Awards and during the production of several Oscar-nominated movies and have set a new standard for the industry. Since 2017, LumenRadio’s CRMX has been used in ARRI’s legendary products SkyLink and SkyPanel S360-C, enabling top-class wireless lighting for the film industry.

The combination of ARRI’s expertise in the world of motion picture lighting and LumenRadio’s expertise in wireless technology will surely lead to even more innovations.
“We expect nothing less than true innovation in wireless technology from LumenRadio. You have set the standards and you will surely continue to do so in the future,” says Florian Bloch.

LMP/LITECRAFT – a CRMX multitasker

LMP has been crowned our Distributor of the Year no less than three years in a row, but that’s not all our German distributor has to offer; through their brand LITECRAFT, LMP becomes a true CRMX multitasker.

LITECRAFT was established in 1980. Creating LED lighting solutions for the entertainment industry, LITECRAFT became a brand well-known to players big and small in Germany and Europe. Having started with mainly LED-PAR fixtures and accessory parts in the 1980s, the brand always kept an eye on evolving technologies; often pioneering in their implementation in entertainment applications.

Today LITECRAFT products are featured in all different kinds of productions, be it concert and touring, television and studio applications, theatre or trade shows. They provide state-of-the-art lighting solutions at a stunning price-performance ratio – enabled by LumenRadio’s CRMX technology.

A l
ong-term relationship
The brand LITECRAFT is born out of LMP, a long-term distributor of LumenRadio. Being familiar with the CRMX technology and its many benefits, the decision to choose LumenRadio was simple.
“We have had a strong relationship for many years, because of the general distribution of LumenRadio products in Germany, but also as an OEM customer for LITECRAFT. LumenRadio’s CRMX is the best technology due to Cognitive Coexistence – it’s as simple as that,” says Marc Petzold, CEO of LMP.

Wireless can solve problems and make projects happen that would not be possible with cabling. We’ve seen several cases ranging from installations in historic buildings up to huge stadium projects as well as thousands of small and mid-size events using wireless technology,” Marc continues.

Customer-focused development
The very first LITECRAFT product with CRMX technology on board was the BattLED AT5, using an OEM flex-card. Since the BattLED, a variation of products has followed – always with the customers interest in mind. The CX.1 Controller is their very first remote controller using CRMX technology. The CX.1 Controller using CRMX will be a tool for all mid-size productions to setup all 4ch LED products within seconds.
“The CX.1 is a product we were able to design in a very short time because of the support of LumenRadio, it is what customers have asked us for some time now,” says Marc.

By listening to their customers expectations, both LMP and LITECRAFT have made a name for themselves. And at LumenRadio we look forward to seeing our multitasker-Distributor/OEM make future strides in providing state-of-the-art wireless lighting in Germany and beyond!

In their own words;
This success in Germany is only possible thanks to two great teams – one in Sweden and one in Germany.

Maciej Oldziej – LumenRadio’s first Boston recruit

During 2020, LumenRadio will start working even harder on positioning our Mira IoT offer on the US market. To help us do so, we have recruited Maciej Oldziej – a master of sales. Based in Boston, Maciej will help us expand our market position and our driven US team, characterized by the LumenRadio humble swagger.

5 quick questions – get to know Maciej

What made you interested in LumenRadio?
“One does not simply pass on a company whose technology is a staple in all major Hollywood and Netflix productions! On a serious note, I was intrigued by LumenRadio’s achievements and future aspirations. Uniquely positioned as Hollywood’s and professional wireless controls standard, with their sights set on the broader IoT market. A limited glimpse into the company culture was sufficient to convince me that this was a tribe of intelligent, driven, and humble people – I was right.”

What about LumenRadio’s technology do you find most interesting?
“Cognitive Coexistence. It is fascinating that our adaptive frequency technology scans RF channels every 10 ms identifying in real-time the best network links, building a predictive model to avoid congested channels and future interferences. Did someone say future-proof?”

Where in the US will you be based?
“I reside in Boston, Massachusetts, where we will open our first US-based office. Boston is strategic to our plans, gaining access to premier talent-pool and close vicinity to our IoT customers. With Massachusetts at the forefront of IoT and wireless connectivity regulation, we ensure that we maintain current and future requirements.”

What do you look forward to accomplish on the US market?
“There’s a long laundry list of goals and objectives that we are aiming to achieve in 2020. I am excited to position LumenRadio as a household wireless connectivity, tech brand with all the large HVAC, building automation, and industrial OEMs. Actively engaged with many of them, we have just scratched the surface of the US OEM IoT market.”

Is there any upcoming opportunity to meet up with you?
“Yes! I will be present at two upcoming Boston-based IoT events. First, Industry of Things World East on November 7th and 8th. Second, Boston IoT & Smart Hardware Showcase on November 21st hosted by Hardware Pioneers.

I enjoy meeting new people and am always open to a cup of coffee. If you’re ever in Boston, feel welcomed to drop me a line – the first one’s on me!”
