The world’s most resilient wireless mesh network
At LumenRadio we say that our operating system MiraOS enables the world’s most reliable and Future-Proof wireless mesh networks. We are, of course, a bit biased on this topic, but when put to the test, MiraOS outperforms its competitors.
We offer unique features based on patented technologies and in this blog post we will give you three reasons to choose MiraOS for your wireless products.
Low power mesh
Ultra-low deterministic power consumption
One of the main features with MiraOS is the ultra-low energy consumption allowing for battery operated solutions. At LumenRadio, battery-powered mesh has been a dedicated focus for our research and development department and during the last couple of years we have been pushing the envelope and set a new standard.
Today, MiraOS allows devices to form a wireless mesh while consuming less than 16uA, which enables more than 15 years battery life-time in routing mode (based on an AA-sized battery). And a leaf node running on a coin cell battery can easily operate for 10 years, thanks to the even lower power consumption.
This consumption is calculated when sending a 160 byte data message every minute. And as far as we know, no other wireless technology can today match this performance – truly enabling Zero Wire applications. In fact, the limitation in life-time primarily depending on the shelf-life of the battery, which today is limited to 15 years due to self-discharge.
If ultra-low energy consumption is vital for your wireless device, then MiraOS is what you need.
Run MiraOS and Bluetooth 5 simultaneously on the same radio
It has been a well-known fact that running multiple protocols with strict timing requirements concurrently on the same radio chip by time-sharing the radio poses a huge challenge.
LumenRadio have solved this problem and with MiraOS it is now possible to, on the same chip, maintain a Bluetooth point-to-point connection in parallel with the ultra-reliable meshing network of MiraOS.
What this means is that interactions between a wireless product and a smart device are now possible at the same time as the wireless mesh network is being fully operational. Concurrent Bluetooth operation opens up many new use cases, such as intuitive and hassle-free commissioning and maintenance, locally extracting large data sets from devices (too large to send through the mesh network), or possibilities for end user interactions through a smartphone or tablet.
This feature unleashes our customers creativity for smooth, intuitive user experiences while not compromising on reliability and performance.
How to handle interference in congested radio environments
Today billions of sensors and actuators are being wirelessly connected and all those connected products together with e.g. smartphones and regular WiFi installations create an ever-increasing amount of radio traffic all around us. Standard technologies such as Zigbee, Thread and Bluetooth Mesh are all single-channel solutions, which means they are very vulnerable to interference as the frequency spectrum gets more and more congested.
At LumenRadio we have a unique way to handle interference through our patented Cognitive Coexistence technology. In our case we build a predictive model of the frequency spectrum in each individual device, predicting on a millisecond basis how the frequency spectrum will be utilized going forward – we always use the best available and least congested frequencies when we communicate.
This is done by real-time adaptive frequency-hopping – an agile method for prioritizing good (less congested) channels over bad (congested) on the fly and is the most efficient strategy for interference mitigation in congested environments.
And the only solution for wireless mesh on the market using this kind of technology is LumenRadio’s MiraOS. With our technology, our customers products become future-proof, as they will coexist along with other wireless equipment – not being interfered and not causing interference.
